Sivuaskel / Side Step Festival

The tenth international Side Step Festival took place at the Cable Factory in Helsinki on February 8 - 12, 2012.

Side Step Festival is an annual international contemporary dance festival organized by Zodiak – Center for New Dance. The festival aims at deepening the interaction between artists and audiences in seminars and discussions which focus on the starting points, approaches and views on dance of the festival artists.

The programming for Side Step Festival 2012 was curated by Zodiak's artistic director Harri Kuorelahti, together with choreographers Jenni Koistinen and Eeva Muilu.

The five-day festival was an active meeting point with six international performances, lectures, artist meetings and documentary films. 

Side Step 2012 achieved the goals both in numbers of audience and in artistic content. Total number of attendees was 1 295. The percentage of occupancy was 109%.
